Sun Cafe Supervisor

Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Food and Beverage, the café supervisor is responsible for the overall supervision and direction of the Sun Café, as well as the operations of the Sun Café area, including resetting and bussing of tables, running food, stocking supplies, using the POS system, and taking café food orders. This position is a leader, teacher, and role model for the employees to follow and entails the maintenance and enhancement of service that properly represents the Derrick Club. Additionally, this role works towards the goals and objectives of the entire department. 

Duties and Responsibilities
·        The basic setup of the café
·        Setting up service stations, getting buckets of ice, jugs of water, glassware, cutlery, and restocking fridges/shelves
·        Assisting servers during service with table maintenance: running food, resetting, and bussing tables
·        Cleaning the floor and surrounding areas as needed.
·        Expedite food to tables.
·        Adhering to all policies and procedures designated by the club.
·        Supervise and develop employees of the Sun Café.
·        Responsible for proper hiring, promotions, and recommendations for termination of staff, disciplining of staff, when necessary, follow Human Resource policies.
·        Ensure that all staff receive proper and thorough training for their position and maintains ongoing training for all staff.
·        following the health and safety guidelines
·        Inspect equipment and arrange for repairs as required.
·        Maintain inventory and keep a record of any transfers stock.
·        Promote teamwork and two-way communication.
·        Promote excellent member relations and strive to exceed all reasonable member expectations.
·        Promote and understand the items offered on the menu.
·        Excellent working relationship with Chef and all employees.
·        Ensures compliance with the Liquor Laws of Alberta
·        Other duties as assigned.
·        Work is primarily in a busy kitchen and restaurant setting with frequent interruptions.
 
Skills and Experience
·        1+ years’ relevant working experience
·        Knowledge of the best food handling and certificate is considered an asset.
·        Pro Serve certificate is considered an asset.
·        Ability to lift upwards of 50 lbs.
·        Consistent standing and bending for up to 8 hours per shift.
·        Solid written and verbal communication skills
·        A passion for process improvement, great problem solving, and decision-making abilities.
·        Exceptional problem-solving skills
 
Qualifications
·        Minimum of 1 year in a supervisory role within the hospitality or food and beverage industry.
·        Able to make quick decisions and effectively deal with multi-task environments.
·        Must be able to communicate orally, work with others, problem-solve, make decisions.
·        Completion of Grade 12 education
·        Ability to work shifts- days, evenings, weekends, and holidays if required. 
·        Excellent communication skills and works well under pressure.
·        Good working knowledge of computers
·        Good leadership skills
