Job Summary 
Reporting to the Assistant Food and Beverage Manager, the Food and Beverage Supervisor is responsible for the overall supervision and direction of the Food and Beverage activities. The Food and Beverage Supervisor is expected to be a visible leader, teacher, and role model for the employees to follow. The position entails the maintenance and enhancement of service that properly represents the Derrick Club. The Food and Beverage Supervisor must also follow and work towards the goals and objectives of the entire department.
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Overall supervision and development of the lounge, café, and concession
  • Leadership through clear communication, direction, and continual improvements to current processes
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of the overall departmental goals
  • Responsible for proper hiring, promotions, and recommendations for termination of staff, disciplining of staff when necessary, follow HR policies
  • Ensure that all staff receive appropriate and thorough training for their position and maintain ongoing training, including but not limited to Pro Serve
  • Responsible for scheduling ensuring employees are wearing proper uniforms and name tags while on duty
  • Responsible for keeping up to date contact information for all staff
  • Inform Food and Beverage Manager on potential overtime
  • Schedule staff cleaning in the Food and Beverage areas to maintain high standards of cleanliness following the health and safety guidelines
  • Inspect equipment and arrange for repairs as required
  • Maintain inventory and keep a record of any transfers of liquor or stock between areas
  • Lead communicator to ensure maintenance work orders are correctly submitted and work completed
  • Promote teamwork and two-way communication
  • Promote excellent member relations and strive to exceed all reasonable member expectations
  • Promote and understand the items offered on The Derrick Menu
  • Excellent working relationship with Chef and Kitchen staff
  • Ensures compliance with the Liquor Laws of Alberta
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Food and Beverage Manager or Executive Chef
  • Other duties as required
Skills and Experienc
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years prior in supervisory position in Service Industry
  • Able to make quick decisions and effectively deal with multi-task environments
  • Must be able to communicate orally, work with others, problem-solve, make decisions and be willing to stay ahead of the service industry and the food and beverage trends
  • Completion of at least grade 12 education
  • Hospitality Degree preferred
  • Be able to work shifts- days, evenings, weekends, and holidays if required
  • Excellent communication skills and works well under pressure
  • Good working knowledge of computers
  • Good leadership skills
