The Derrick Golf and Winter Club is Edmonton’s most complete family-oriented private club. Members of all ages and abilities enjoy golf, tennis, swimming, racquet sports, and a wide range of athletic and social activities year-round, all within a friendly, safe, and first-class environment.
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Banquet Supervisor to join our dynamic team.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Banquet Manager, the Banquet Supervisor will liaise with the Banquet Manager, Catering Manager, and other F&B Management to ensure open lines of communication to execute all Banquets and Events to the highest Standard. Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Banquets Manager and other supervisors with the overall operations of events and functions at the Club.
  • Provide excellent customer service to members and their guests.
  • Assist with promoting and maintaining a positive team environment.
  • Assist with resolving issues with members.
  • Staying up to date with the latest industry best practices standards based off the legislative and government mandated policy changes including hospitality, catering and sales
  • Ensure all staff are up to date on changes to legislative or policy changes.
  • Assist all staff to ensure they are adhering to all policies and procedures designated by the club.
  • Member and guest satisfaction
  • Service in a timely and professional manner
  • Follow all policies, procedures and safety guidelines outlined by the Club.
  • Ensure the proper handling and cleaning of equipment, glass, China, and silverware.
  • Ensure immediate communication of special requests or concerns made by members and their guests to direct supervisor.
  •  Follow all opening and closing procedures to ensure areas are secured.
  • Prepare cocktails, pour wine and beer for guests.
  • Serve food and beverage and take payment as required.
  • Check guest identification if they appear under the age of 25.
  • Other duties as required.

Education and Experience

  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • A passion for process improvement, great problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Solid manager of people with a track record of building effective relationships
  • Superior customer service and multi-tasking skills
  • Proficient with computers
  • Ability to build effective teams, inspire others to go above and beyond and provide coaching where needed.

Qualifications

  • 3 or more years’ relevant working experience
  • Strong knowledge of contracts, catering, and sales
  • Proserve

Work Environment

  • Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Working directly with a diverse team of servers, chefs, and managers
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule including weekends, evenings, and some holidays.
  • Standing or walking for a long period of time
  • Moving and setting tables for the events
